The Eventi Hotel Restaurant ‘L’Amico’ New York City

I have been having the best time in New York. I used to live here way back when and I fell out of love with it for a short spell but now.. its back on my radar… true love never dies! I was shooting Beat Bobby Flay in Midtown which was oodles of fun. Lots of shouting and getting excited and tasting and eating food glorious food.

There are so many good places to eat in the Big Apple that it almost makes my head spin and the fact that Manhattan is so compact (compared to London) means that every restaurant is easily within reach. Last year when I came I stayed at the Hotel Eventi over on 30th Street and 6th. If you book through Trip Advisor there are some really good deals. The rooms are smallish but the most luxurious bathrooms and the higher floor rooms have amazing views.

Cannot believe how hot the weather has been here! 91f… Woah! Hotter than the Carribean. Lucky that L’Amico restaurant at the front of the hotel has loads of tables which spill out onto the street. The pics above are what I ate and below are their descriptions.

Tuscan shaved raw artichoke, fennel, fava beans, pecorino al pepe- fresh, fast and easy on the palette

Yellowtail tuna, grated lime, orange confit, sea salt– thinly sliced ‘sashimi’ lovely combination with the lime and orange

Charred cauliflower, capers, pecorino– I would eat this all day If I could. My friend and I each ordered a serving and you basically get a whole cauliflower each. When I saw it, I thought, well that is a bit much, but when I started eating it I thought that it might not be enough. Outstanding.

Branzino, fennel, olives, shelling beans, salsa verde, lemon broth – lightly flavoured and perfectly cooked. Branzino, which sounds kind of sexy I think is just Sea Bass and cooked right like this one was, it is heavenly.

Blackened scallops, white asparagus, ramp-sherry vinaigrette, ricotta– Somebody scream! The best scallops I have ever had. Period. So crunchy (on one side) that people a block away could hear it. I am not sure what they coated it with but I will be emailing the head chef for the recipe.

Oh and the random pic below? It was in the restaurant bathrooms 🙂

Have a great day.

Big love
