The most instagrammable spots in New York: My New York Photo Safari

I go to New York a lot for work. I enjoy filming the Foodie TV shows over there. On my last trip I did a couple of fun jobs and in my free time, I went on a photo safari of New York taking pictures of some of the best places to shoot in the Big Apple. There’s lots more on this list but these are a few of my favourite so far.

Starting out the day in Central Park by the boathouse. It can be mayhem navigating the many boats idling their way through the water with novice rowers as captains. But my companion and I found a quiet spot in the centre of the lake and we sat for a while blissfully chatting away.

Grand central station. The ceiling is like a fantastical sky.

The Chrysler building reflected in Citibank branch near Grand Central.

The Empire State Building through the arches of Manhattan Bridge in DUMBO, Brooklyn. At Water and Washington street. This spot gets rammed with people. I went at 7.30am and there was already photographers with tripods and bloggers in straw hats with white float dresses standing in pole position!

Brooklyn Bridge Viewed from Brooklyn Bridge Park Beach. A pebble beach so us Brits will feel right at home.

Walking towards Brooklyn on Brooklyn Bridge. Again for a peaceful walk go early. It’s a special spot here, lots of time for quiet reflection as you stroll across the East River.

Flatiron/Fuller building at 23rd and Broadway. I stood for a while admiring this ‘slice of cake’ Building. Such an unusual beauty.

I found her near 176 Mulberry street. Major eyelash envy. You can sit and have a drink outside if you don’t mind getting snapped every 5 minutes by a passing blogger.

Visiting Kings Chapel Cambridge reminded me of the tremendous architecture of some Churches and chapels. And also the tranquility from sitting still and reflecting in them. This is St Patrick’s on 50th and fifth and I caught an inspiring service there too.

Yes, I still love baking and food! Found this Hibiscus doughnut in the Flatiron district at Dough, they have a branch in Brooklyn too.

As a model, I partied on this boat. Now, many years later I Just want to stare at it at sunset. It is the USS Intrepid on the West Side. It is a  museum and entertainment venue located at 46th and 12th Avenue. I am in love with it! 😍

I have been Skydiving twice and I love to fly. But this helicopter ride was a whole new experience! We took off from New Jersey and flew all over Manhattan. amazing pictures and you get to dangle your feet out. All strapped in of course. Ridiculous fun and a bucket list must.

Hometime came too quickly. I lived in New York for years before moving to London and LA. I fell out of love with it for a while. But then spending more time there again, I’ve rekindled the flame. I’ve fallen for her again and I can’t quite get enough.

What are your favourite photo hot spots in NYC? Is there anywhere I should go next or that you want to go? Comment and let me know. Have a wonderful week and thanks for reading.

Big love and stay true to yourself.

Amazing photos. I travel as much as you and I, too, have spent more time recently photographing the places I visit. Fewer selfies and more landscape! I always add extra time to every far flung business trip to ensure I can play tourist and find something new and interesting in every place I visit, even if I’ve been there many times. It takes the drudge out of business travel and makes every trip an adventure. But the quality of your pics far surpasses mine. Keep up with this theme!

Some great photos there of NYC. If you get a chance take the ferry to Staten Island and go to Alice Austen house and check out the diamond pane door which I made for the restoration project in the early 80’s when I was working for the national trust for historic preservation. I hope it is still there and in good condition!!
